Message of Condolences from High Commissioner Mihova
LONDON, Tuesday, 5th May 2020- Zambian’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom His Excellency Lieutenant General Paul Mihova has sent messages of condolences to the Zambian Community in the UK and their families back home following the deaths of Zambians who have lost their lives due to COVID-19.
In his words of condolences, the High Commissioner said “I have received messages of deaths of Zambians in the UK due to COVID-19 with great sorrow. On behalf of the Zambian Government and the Zambia High Commission in London, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to all the Zambian families who have lost their loved ones due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
I wish I can be with you and mourn with you right now, but there are a number of unprecedented measures put in place as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus that has restricted and limited certain gatherings which include funerals and burials. It is sad that we (mourners) will now experience a new type of grief when the traditional and common practices observed surrounding end-of-life are abruptly changed. We might not be together right now but always remember that we are together in spirit.
Fellow Zambians living here in the United Kingdom and all other countries of accreditation, we are all aware of, and directly affected by the COVID-19. At a time like this, we must support each other, and we must also be firmly united in prayers and in hope.
I would like to inform you all that the Zambia High Commission UK is closely working with Zambians in the community who have expressed their willingness to help, support, and contribute towards those in need of help during this unprecedented time. We encourage those who are willing to help, to join ZambiansTogether in making an impact on the wider community in the spirit of One Zambia, One Nation, and in supporting those amongst us in need.
Once again, the Mission would like to assure all Zambians in the UK that the Zambia High Commission is as committed as ever to supporting you during this time.
We also wish to encourage you to visit our website www.zambiahc.org.uk for updates and further information”.
