UK University Consortium for Africa to visit Zambia

The UK University Consortium for Africa (UKUC) comprising of nine UK Universities that have voluntarily come together to support African students study in the UK, will be visiting Zambia, Lusaka on 1st October, 2016 to make an open presentation on scholarships.
UKUC is touring Southern Africa and will visit Gaborone, Botswana; Lusaka, Zambia and Harare and Bulawayo, Zimbabwe between 25th September and 9thOctober
Chief Executive Officer of UKUC Mr. Tim Hunt will make the main presentation titled “The Truth about Scholarships.” They will also be assessing student qualifications with the aim of making conditional offers to study in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Hunt said the consortium stems from the significant contribution African students make to UK Higher Education.
He said invariably African students are among the higher echelons of academic performance and they bring with them their culture adding to the international dimension and diversity of a place of higher learning.
“This is quite an open and frank presentation, highly regarded by many who have heard it and answering many questions and demystifying an area that many have explored with no success. Parents and possible students should make an online appointment for a one-to-one interview, or attend the scholarship presentation. There is no fee or charge to attend, everyone is welcome,” he said.
UKUC will be in Lusaka on 1st October from 10 am to 6 pm at Southern Sun Hotel.
The Zambia High Commission in London recognises this as a good opportunity for Zambians to ask questions and learn to explore the potential of studying in the UK.
The Mission is considering the possibility of a Memorandum of Understanding with the UK University Consortium for Africa so that prospective students can have up to 30 per cent discounted university tuition fees throughout the 9 universities that form the consortium.
The Mission is engaging the consortium to encourage them to set up campus in Zambia in order to allow maximum participation of students and bring down the fees.
UKUC comprise of nine (9) UK institutions – Bath Spa University, University of Bradford Bristol, University of the West of England, Cardiff Metropolitan University, University of Suffolk, Teesside University, University of Central Lancashire, University College Business Football – Wembley and the Brunel University, London.
